BIG ART for ARTFUL SPACES

PROCESS/Photography & Painting

I work in diverse, unpredictable styles - yet complementary to each other.

Photography is where I got my start. I transpose those images on various substrates - layering complex finishes (sometimes rust) on metal, acrylic on panels, wood, canvas, etc.

For my free form or realism painting, I use pallet knives, brushes, sponges, crumpled paper, my fingers and the occasional squeegee or pastry tube to create texture.

I use acrylic paint, resins and bees wax - pouring mediums to achieve textures which I feel best represent the subject.

I use a soft touch and brush to paint some of the magnificent humans whom I have met across the globe while traveling with a non-profit humanitarian group I was attached to for 25 years. I want to honor them.

When I paint the favorite donkey, I used to talk to when I was out hiking in Arizona, I used a pallet knife, big heavy strokes, and lots of texture because that is how he needs to be seen - masterful, a bit tough and basking in his own scruffiness.
