Tintype on aluminum in 1" deep frame
Tintype photos were created when metal plates were coated with chemicals, exposed to light in a box and bellows style camera, and processed with additional chemicals. This created an underexposed negative image. The Tintype was popular in the early 1900s and before. The modern way is kinder to the environment and the photographer in that these chemicals are no longer used. The ability to manipulate a camera or manipulate a photo after it’s taken is the 21st century way of producing this artful form of photography - thereby extending my heartbeats and my walk on the planet because these chemicals are no longer dumped into the environment.
